Henna  Q  &  A

What is Henna?

Henna is a flowering shrub/plant also known as Lawsonia inermis. Its grounded into powder and mixed with liquid ingredients such as water, tea, or lemon and essential oils.  It has a natural dye content that stains the top layer of the skin and used as body art also known as henna tattoos, temporary tattoos, henna designs or mehndi designs.  As your skin cells sheds you can see the stain slowly fading away over the course of about 2 weeks.  Henna is also used to naturally dye the hair.

How long does henna last?

It can last anywhere from 1.5-3 weeks depending on after care, skin chemistry, and location of design placement.  The average is 2 weeks.

Does Samira use Natural Henna?

Samira buys 100% Organic Certified Henna Powder directly from the manufacturer in India and Mixes her paste with all natural ingredients which may consist of  (but not necessarily all the ingredients at the same time) water,  lemon, tea, sugar, maple syrup, and therapeutic grade essential oils.

Where did Henna originate from?

It first came from the Arabian peninsula and through trade it was commonly used in other cultures and traditions in South Asia, Africa and different parts of Europe.  It was used to adorn one self  and a "must have" for holidays, celebrations and weddings. Today henna can be used as adornment for everyday use for everyone, and still very popular for Holidays, Birthday, Engagements and Hindu Weddings, Muslim Weddings, Pakistani Weddings, Indian Weddings that include Catholic Weddings, and Bat mitzva Celebration.
